Waddup Savi Crew!
Second week of Nano and I’m pumped. Even though the week has been hectic, I’m determined to do my best not to lose this year. As of the writing of this blog post, my current word count is 25,975 words which is below the Nano standard of 28,333 words on Day 17 but we’re gonna focus on the positives here. Besides, weekends are for catch-ups.
Speaking of catch-ups, last weekend I was able to attend my very first write-in. It was hosted by jlw reads and Kate Cavanaugh, two of my writing buddies and Camp Nano cabin mates. Here’s the thing with write-ins—and I’m not sure if it’s just me that does this—during the live write-in, I write bupkis. However, if I were to watch it over later, that’s where the magic happens. I even have last year’s write-ins saved on my YouTube playlist.
For some reason, live write-ins don’t get the juices flowing. I’d rather listen to the calming sounds of keyboard typing than get some writing done myself. At least, when it’s live. I’ll read the comments, write some comments myself but the one thing that I need to be doing, I never do during write-ins. However, that same write-in ends and I put it on replay later on, 3,000 fresh words, just like that. Odd, yeah. But that’s my method.
I even have a calendar of all the write-ins that someone named TehBuggy put together. It even has them in my time zone which is uber helpful when you’re too lazy to check your Samsung Galaxy world clock for the time difference lolz.
The second tool of inspiration for me has been Authortube. Kudos to all my writing buddies that have YouTube channels and has managed to keep up with the commitment of filming, editing and uploading daily or weekly Nano vlogs in addition to their jobs, lives, etc. I’m barely keeping up my word count without that extra responsibility.
Anyways, I’m rambling again which means it’s time to sign off… Toodles for now.
And remember, no matter where you live, take a little time to enjoy the island life! Happy Writing!
